I went to Dr. Rhody for the first time today and I have to say it was an amazing experience! I have never had to take my Guinea pig to the vet in the two years I have had him. I was able to go right in and was taken care of by the tech immediately. I didn’t have to wait long for the vet. Dr. Rhody and his staff were very patient and kind with Chewy which I appreciate very much! I felt comfortable asking questions and got a lot of I formation as well as an overview of how the treatment will go! From beginning to end the visit and staff were amazing! I would recommend this place to everyone. It’s a great feeling as a pet parent to know that the staff want what’s best for your animal and are so caring when you’re animal isn’t very comfortable.

They are the best. Our boy has developed some chronic health issues as he has aged. They have been amazing about working with specialists to develop a care plan. He looks forward to seeing everyone during his visits.

Dr. Rhody and the incredible staff at Lakeside provided attentive, gentle care for my bearded dragon and mountain horned dragon. The vast knowledge and experience at Lakeside is a blessing to all pet owners who visit. My wife and I are so pleased that our scaly kids have such esteemed veterinary service nearby!

I went to this vet because they were able to schedule an appointment sooner than my regular vet for an exotic pet for an issue that's best treated early. I didn't expect issues, but the doctor who saw my pet was excruciatingly loud and scared my pet, and then yelled louder when my pet bit her because of how he was handled. I was edgy about her handling him because she had these long acrylic nails and he really, really did not like being handled or poked because of it (it didn't bother me until I saw her dig one in to his belly when I was trying to show her what was wrong). My pet's still exhibiting anxiety from the visit, and he's never been like this.
I came to this vet expecting a problem with my pet because he was showing signs of possibly having an issue best caught early. The loud doctor, when I asked what her hunch was, was condescending as she said she saw nothing wrong because "I can't dismiss *your* concerns". The same loud doctor, after the initial check-up and after I was calming my pet down in the exam room while waiting to pay for the visit, was loudly discussing how I didn't know what was wrong to other staff out in the lobby. The walls are thin. I heard it. Do you think I would go to a vet if I was an expert in anything about veterinary care? I'm neither a know-it-all nor trained in veterinary care, but I have experience with these animals. I expressed what I thought the problem was, and I'm glad it's not, but I've never felt this uncomfortable at a vet before. I waited a few days to see if I still felt the same, because I understand it's stressful all around, but my pet's still nervous and I've never had a vet behave like this around me.
There are these print-out signs in the rooms about not disrespecting the staff. A bit tacky, I initially dismissed it as covid-related stress. But if this is how the vets behave regularly, I understand why those signs are up there and not at my regular vet. I'm sure it depends on which doctor you see here, but I'm not risking a second visit, and I urge others to ask which doctor will be seeing your pet before making that appointment.
